Employers in the Town of Tonawanda have access to a variety of local and regional education networks, including the Ken-Ton Union Free School District, Erie County BOCES, the Niagara Frontier Industry Education Council (NFIEC) and several colleges and universities in the region.

Erie 1 Boces, which operates the Kenton center on Two Mile Creek Road in the town, offers Workforce development programs for your corporation.

Electricity is distributed in the Town of Tonawanda by the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (NiMo). Energy deregulation now provides an opportunity for customers to purchase electricity from several suppliers.

The Town is also a host to the Huntley Station--a coal-burning generation facility-- which was sold by NiMo to NRG Energy in June, 1999.  Huntley is located along the banks of the Niagara River immediately adjacent to the town's industrial core and transmission lines of various capacity branch throughout the industrial sector. The town is also a host to the Indeck-Yerkes plant--a natural gas cogeneration facility--located immediately adjacent to the E.I. DuPont plant and close proximity to the Huntley Station. The New York State Power Authority operates the Niagara Project, located several miles north of the town in Lewiston, NY.

Natural gas is distributed in the Town of Tonawanda by National Fuel Gas. Energy deregulation in this industry also provides an opportunity for customers to purchase natural gas from several suppliers.

Large capacity lines are located in close proximity to existing and planned industrial properties.

The Town of Tonawanda is served by the Region II office of the New York State Department of Environment and Conservation (NYSDEC). It is the center of most of the Department's activities in the Region, including:  Administrative Services, Air, Conservation Officers & Investigators, Environmental Enforcement, Environmental Permits, Environmental Remediation,  Fish & Wildlife, Lands & Forests, Legal Affairs, Operations, Public Affairs,  Solid & Hazardous Materials, and Water

The Erie County Division of Environmental Compliance Services (ECS) is a non-regulatory public assistance agency that provides technical and non-technical support to the Western New York community. The Division implements programs to help Erie County businesses, municipalities, citizens and institutions  understand and comply with environmental standards and regulations, as well as to increase awareness of environmental issues to enhance the quality, use or enjoyment of air, land and  water resources.
