The Hazardous Materials Advisory Council is a volunteer group organized within the Town of Tonawanda at the initiative of local industries and in cooperation with local government agencies, emergency services and concerned citizens.
To improve the protection of public health and safety within our community by encouraging a high level of emergency preparedness and response.
To develop an inventory of resources within the community, both private and public, to include equipment and expertise that could be utilized in an emergency.
To review the selected industries within the town where hazardous materials are manufactured, utilized, stored or transported. Determine any potential problems and recommend any necessary response measures.
To develop a community outreach program to provide education to citizens about local industries with the town.
Plan and execute emergency drills in order to train and improve skills and emergency response capabilities.
